Snow Much Fun: in the Sierra. By Jason Lopez. Reno/Tahoe is hard to beat when it comes to wintry play. If you aren’t busy hitting the slopes, there’s an array of outdoor winter activities that’ll have you enjoying the snow blanketing this region. Whether it’s sledding and ice skating, to Nordic skiing or simply taking photos of the beautiful landscapes, there are many great options in the area.
“IT’S THE PERFECT SEASON TO REVEL IN THE REGION’S MANY EXHILARATING OUTDOOR EXPERIENCES.” By Natasha Bourlin. Spring fever can spark longing for new adventures. Plus it’s the perfect season to revel in the region’s many exhilarating outdoor experiences. This year, instead of watching the wide grins of folks adept at these activities from afar, join them. Most places provide expert instructors, or you can make it a mission to learn on your own and just rent the needed equipment. Some are weather reliant and only available in late spring, so confirm they’re available before trekking out.
Top Things To Do This Winter. By Jen Peng. The Reno/Tahoe area may be known as a winter wonderland, especially on a bluebird day after a snowfall. But sometimes it’s just too cold and blustery to get outdoors. Luckily, there are plenty of options, both indoors and out, to keep the whole family occupied no matter the weather outside.
Explore California and Nevada’s state parks this summer. By Annie Flanzraich. When summer comes to the Reno/Tahoe area, my favorite activities happen outside. Hiking, camping, swimming, exploring, adventuring and lounging are best experienced with sunshine, fresh air, friends and a hefty dose of SPF. State parks can be an epicenter for all of the above, and luckily more than 20 parks are a 45-minute drive or less from Reno. Here are my favorite seven to visit.
Local Vibes – Living a life without limits. By Nicole Marsel. Much like the character of Merida from the movie “Brave,” Teal Stetson-Lee is courageous, daring, helps others conquer their fears and has a great head of hair. Those are very rare qualities to come across in one single person these days. She’s also a complete badass when it comes to enduro mountain bike racing and cyclocross racing. When I moved to Tahoe, mountain biking was only natural to pick up. While you visit, perhaps you could follow Teal’s lead and push yourself to the next level in America’s all-season playground!
