family fun in Reno at Need 2 Speed
Racing excitement for the whole family!

Picture this scenario when you’re enjoying family fun in reno at Need 2 Speed …

You are two laps from the finish line! Your opponent cuts you off at the hairpin turn, taking the lead by half a car length. One lap to go!

You surge ahead on the straightaway, but lose your lead again on the next turn. You can see the checkered flag ahead as you jockey neck and neck with your adversary.

With one final acceleration, you blast ahead, cross the finish line, and win by a nose.

“This is the ultimate racing adventure, with the fastest, cleanest and safest machines available,” says Will Schweizer, general manager of Need 2 Speed. “We emphasize safety, and clean our karts and helmets after every use.”

Only a fantasy for Indy and NASCAR drivers? Not if you visit Need 2 Speed in Reno’s premier high-speed go-kart facility and virtual reality arcade.

Located at 6895-B Sierra Center Parkway in the Target Shopping Center, this six-year-old business offers experiences for group outings, parties or any individuals who just want the rush of speeding along a racecourse in a high-powered go-kart.

“This is the ultimate racing adventure, with the fastest, cleanest and safest machines available,” says Will Schweizer, general manager of Need 2 Speed. “We emphasize safety, and clean our karts and helmets after every use.”

These high-speed karts, which can reach up to 45 mph in the adult-use vehicles, and 25 mph for youth karts, are all-electric, powered by four auto batteries.

The ever-twisting race track provides challenges for all levels, as guests navigate the rigorous course through 14 laps for adults, and 12 for youth. The adrenaline rush one gets after completing a competitive race in these speedsters is unmatched.

Also available for visitors is Hologate, a virtual reality battlefield simulator with dozens of game options ranging from Cold Clash, a snowball fight thriller for kids, to Das Boot, a submarine simulator where teams defend against outside enemies.

Reno’s premier racing and entertainment venue.

I had the privilege of playing Zombyte, in which teams battle against invading zombies and other ominous creatures. When an attacking zombie appears to jump over the railing at you, it’s hard not to jump!

Everyone will be happy to know even though my score was about half as my fellow zombie killers, (a.k.a. employees of Need 2 Speed), the human race is once again safe from the wrath of a zombie attack. For now.

For those who don’t find golf in the daylight challenging enough, the facility also offers Black Light Golf, a nine-hole, race car-themed course that is the ultimate challenge to your putting skills. I’d like to see Tiger Woods bank his shot off the side of an Indy car towards the hole.

The facility can accommodate groups between eight and 200 people in a variety of party rooms. Food and drinks are available or you can arrange to bring your own. Everything from youth birthday parties to corporate events are welcome, though riders need to be above 48 inches tall to race the karts. The ultimate family fun in Reno is at Need 2 Speed.

Events can be booked online or you can call 775-851-RACE (7223). Any individuals wishing to experience the great thrills of racing can drop by seven days a week to enjoy what this awesome business has to offer. A large variety of packages and prices are available.

Imagine organizing a group company outing, and the thrill you would get by legally running your boss off the road! Don’t mention I told you this. Bumping is not allowed.
