There’s nothing quite like the almighty soup and sammy combo. I’ve been known to enjoy the tasty duo for any meal of the day and there are a whole slew of great spots in Reno/Tahoe. Let’s take a quick look at some of my favorites around town.
Sopping up in Reno
In South Reno, Yosh’s Unique Deli is just that … with a creative menu offering the classics you love with a twist. Pair their delicious soups with the gobbler sandwich piled high with roasted turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, aioli and lingonberries. Yum! yoshsdeli.com
Midtown hosts several places to hit up. Gourmelt serves the most delicious grilled sandwiches including breakfast options and definitely try their Parmesan fries. And head to Süp for a piping-hot bowl of the good stuff. They have a rotating daily menu with flavors just filled to the brim, but my go-tos are the chicken tortilla and loaded baked potato. gourmeltnv.com; sup.restaurant
Have you heard of Geno the Soup Man? If not, this should be at the top of your list to try while in the BLC. The delicious soups can be found on the menu at three Great Full Gardens locations, as well as lining the shelves of area grocers. ginothesoupman.com
Grilled goodness in Tahoe
How about an amazing view with your meal? Artemis Lakefront Café is the place! And their Greek food is as amazing as the picture-perfect scenery — try the spicy lentil soup
alongside a stuffed pita. With locations in South Lake and Reno, Beach Hut Deli brings a beachy vibe to their menu with their surfin’ bird, California and North Shore sandwiches, plus much more! tahoepourhouse.com; artemislakefrontcafe.com; beachhutdeli.com
A full deli menu, made-to-order sandwiches and tasty soups are tucked inside Tahoe Central Market in Kings Beach. In Incline, visit Tunnel Creek Cafe for some traditional faire including the Tunnel Creek Rueben and hot pastrami. Leave time for a stroll or bike ride on the Tahoe Flume Trail while you’re there. tahoecentralmarket.com; tunnelcreekcafe.com
Sliced and ladled in the surrounding areas
Craving some steaming Italian wedding soup? Then Carson City’s Mangia Tutto Pizzeria e Ristorante is just the ticket! They also have a full menu of sandwiches that pair perfectly with the brothy deliciousness. mangiatuttopizzeria.com
In Minden, head to Full Belly Deli for a complete menu with all the traditional deli offerings, including the classic French dip, meatball sub and egg salad, alongside a tasty daily soup offering. For a little barbecue flare, visit Minden Meat and Deli. They have a signature tri-tip and saucy barbecue chicken, or the 50/50 sandwich if you can’t decide between the meats. facebook@fullbellydeli; mindenmeat.com
